The intersection of Industry 4.0 and manufacturing automation has been pivotal in their journey. Over the past few years, these terms have become ubiquitous in the manufacturing sector, driving innovations aimed at helping businesses and factories achieve their goals.
Techman Thailand, a facility under Quanta Storage Inc. specializing in SSD production and SMT manufacturing, embarked on deploying one of the most innovative solutions on their production lines: collaborative robots. These robots, designed to work alongside humans, have significantly enhanced their manufacturing capabilities.
Stay tuned to discover the success story of Techman Thailand Factory in the following article.
Introducing Techman Thailand
Techman Thailand, a subsidiary of Techman Robot, a leading global robot manufacturer based in Taiwan, was established in 2005 at the Amata Nakorn Pathom Industrial Estate, Thailand.
Covering an area of 20,000 square meters, Techman Thailand employs over 500 staff members. The facility specializes in producing robots for the Southeast Asian market and exports to various countries worldwide.
Techman Thailand operates multiple SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) production lines. Key challenges faced by the factory in deploying and operating these production lines include meeting high production demands, limited labor availability, and the need for speed to maintain output levels. To address these challenges, Techman robots have been implemented to enhance productivity and manufacturing quality.
This integration of Techman robots underscores Techman Thailand's commitment to leveraging advanced automation solutions to optimize production efficiency and meet market demands effectively.
Enhancing both production efficiency and product quality with Techman robot
Techman's collaborative robots have proven highly effective in enhancing both production efficiency and product quality at Techman Thailand Factory. In today's fiercely competitive global environment, manufacturers must deliver high-quality goods quickly. This imperative led Mr. Simon Lin, the factory director at TMT, to explore Techman's AI collaborative robot line.

"At TMT, we currently operate 3 SMT production lines and 18 assembly lines to meet the demands of Quanta Storage Inc. This requires significant manpower and resources to manage the scale of this production area. Our ultimate goal is to maximize both productivity and quality, which is why we turned to Techman Robots," shared Mr. Simon Lin.
He highlighted Techman Robots' machine vision capabilities and image recognition technology as pivotal. These features enable the robots to identify objects based on dimensions, shapes, and colors. Combining these functions with AOI applications, the robots can sort non-conforming (NG) items from conforming ones, while also planning paths and executing pick-and-place operations.
"These capabilities are why we chose to implement Techman Robots in our production," Mr. Simon concluded. The integration of Techman Robots into assembly lines at Techman Thailand Factory exemplifies their commitment to leveraging advanced automation for superior manufacturing outcomes.

Maximized benefits with low costs
Techman's robots have maximized benefits at TMT by keeping deployment costs low while enhancing operational efficiency and maintaining consistent product quality. For business directors and factory managers, an excellent automation solution not only meets their needs but also ensures easy deployment and operation.
At TMT, over 30 Techman Robots have been deployed across workstations to perform tasks such as picking/placing objects, labeling, and optical inspection. Operators are required to fully understand how to operate and control these robots effectively.
Harry Tsou, Director of Automation at TMT, highlighted the advantages of TM Robot's operating software, TMflow: "One thing we appreciate about TM Robot is its operating software - TMflow. It significantly reduces the training time for our operators. The software is very intuitive and logical, so our operators can learn it quickly. Therefore, they don't spend much time getting familiar with editing tasks on the production line.".
"The integrated smart machine vision feature is another key advantage of Techman Robots," Mr. Tsou continued. "The smart machine vision capability can identify various objects. Combined with TMflow and teach-by-demonstration functions, we can deploy robots into our production line in a very short time." According to Mr. Tsou, TMT recovered 80% of deployment costs within just 6 months of deploying Techman Robots.
Techman Robots not only enhance productivity and ensure consistent product quality for the factory but also allow managers to adjust production lines flexibly and optimize overall manufacturing. Importantly, workers can safely collaborate with these cobots in the same workspace due to integrated safety functions and user-friendly designs. Therefore, investing in Techman Robots proves to be a win-win solution for both factory management and workers alike.
