About Mech-Mind

Mech-Mind develops advanced technologies in 3D vision, machine vision, artificial intelligence, and robot motion planning.

Its technology ecosystem is built around an “Eye-Brain-Hand” concept, combining vision sensors, AI-powered software, and robot motion control to enable robots to perceive, understand, and interact with their surroundings.

Rather than simply capturing images, Mech-Mind solutions can manage the entire vision-guided automation workflow: 2D/3D data acquisition → object recognition → pose estimation → grasp point calculation → path planning → robot execution.

This makes the platform suitable for a wide range of applications, including bin picking, machine tending, depalletizing, piece picking, assembly, and automated quality inspection.

Key Advantages of Mech-Mind

  • An integrated vision and robotics ecosystem: Mech-Mind combines vision hardware, image-processing software, AI, and robot programming within a unified platform. This simplifies system development and enables vision and robot motion to work together more efficiently.
  • Reliable performance with challenging objects: Its 3D vision and AI algorithms are designed to handle demanding conditions, including dark surfaces, reflective materials, complex geometries, and randomly stacked or overlapping parts inside bins.
  • Broad compatibility with industrial robots: Mech-Mind solutions can be integrated into existing robot systems or deployed as part of a complete new automation system. Temas provides the engineering expertise required to connect the vision system, robot, tooling, and production equipment into a fully integrated solution.

Key Mech-Mind Products

1. Mech-Eye Industrial 3D Cameras

Mech-Eye Industrial 3D Cameras are designed specifically for robotic automation applications.

The cameras generate depth data and 3D point clouds, allowing the system to determine the shape, position, and orientation of objects in three-dimensional space.

The Mech-Eye portfolio includes multiple models with different fields of view, working distances, accuracy levels, and object-size ranges, allowing users to select the most suitable configuration for each application.

2. Mech-Eye 3D Laser Profiler

Mech-Eye 3D Laser Profilers are designed for high-precision 3D measurement and inspection applications. They are suitable for dimensional measurement, profile inspection, surface inspection, and inline quality control in industries such as automotive manufacturing, electronics, and EV battery production.

4. Mech-Vision Machine Vision Software

Mech-Vision is Mech-Mind’s core machine vision software platform. It supports object recognition, pose estimation, point-cloud processing, and vision workflows for applications such as bin picking, machine loading, piece picking, depalletizing, and assembly.

Its graphical programming environment allows engineers to build, configure, and optimize vision workflows without developing the entire application from scratch.

Typical Mech-Mind Applications

Mech-Mind technologies are used across industries including automotive and automotive components, electronics, metalworking, precision engineering, EV batteries, logistics, warehousing, food, and beverage. A common requirement across these applications is the ability for robots to adapt to variations in the actual position, orientation, shape, or condition of products.

  • 3D Vision-Guided Bin Picking: In bin-picking applications, parts may be randomly positioned, stacked, or overlapping inside a container. A 3D camera captures the scene and generates a point cloud. The vision software then identifies each object, determines its position and orientation, calculates suitable grasp points, and provides the required data for the robot to perform the picking operation. This approach is well suited to mechanical components, castings, forgings, gears, shafts, and many other industrial parts.

Vision-Guided CV Joint Picking

  • Machine tending: Robots can automatically load and unload CNC machines and other production equipment. 3D vision is particularly valuable when incoming workpieces are not presented in fixed positions but are randomly placed inside bins or containers. The vision system identifies each part and guides the robot accordingly.
  • Palletizing & Depalletizing: A 3D camera can determine the position of individual boxes, packages, trays, or products on a pallet before the robot performs picking, unloading, or stacking operations. Combining 3D vision with robot path planning allows the system to adapt to different pallet configurations while reducing the risk of collisions.

  • Assembly: 3D vision can accurately determine the position and orientation of components before the robot performs assembly, insertion, adhesive dispensing, or other precision operations. Vision guidance is especially useful when part positions vary or when conventional fixtures cannot guarantee consistent positioning.

  • Measurement and Quality Inspection: By combining industrial cameras or laser profilers with Mech-MSR, Mech-Mind solutions can perform dimensional measurement, surface inspection, defect detection, and inline quality inspection directly within the production process.
